Update on Founder Dr. Russell K. Pier by President Dr. Jeffrey A. Bell

Dear Friends,

Dr. Pier's daughter, Dorene, called me last night with an up-date on her father.  He has improved enough to be moved to a rehabilitation unit for three weeks.  At that time he will enter Grace Manor Suites, an assisted living home, in Lakeland, Florida. This will become a permanent home for him and his wife, Joan.   This residence is administrated by Christians and is only two minutes away from where Dorene lives. Dr. Pier seems very content with the arrangements that are being made. In order to accomplish all of this, Dr. Pier needs approximately $1200 a month added to his finances.   We (Dr. Pier, Dorene, FST) are so grateful for all of those who have made donations and pledges to help him.  We still need more. Due to the major snow storm coming our way, tomorrow, we felt it necessary to dismiss our students for February break today. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10 Dr. Russell K. Pier is the founder of Faith School of Theology. He was president of the school for 47 years and taught for 50 years. He and his wife, Joan, presently live in Groveland, Florida. This past week he was hospitalized with an intestinal obstruction. When he leaves the hospital, it will be necessary for him and his wife to move into an assisted living complex in Lakeland, Florida. At the present time they are short on finances to do so. They need approximately $1200.00 per month added to their income to do this. We thought if we could get 120 people to pledge $10 a month, we could help them.  This event has opened our eyes to the establishment of a retirement fund for our staff and faculty at Faith School of Theology. However, at this time it has not been set up, therefore your donation will not be tax deductible until we have arranged for this fund. The alumni of Faith School of Theology have been touched by this man of God. Can you do something on a monthly basis to touch his life, in the next few days? Great Student Ministry Opportunities by President Dr. Jeffrey A. Bell

Dear Friend,

I often hear people counting down the days down to spring. We feel sure that many across the U.S. and Canada will be glad to see spring come this year. I wonder, however, how many of us are looking as forward to Jesus' return as we are to spring. If we were, would we not be expressing our faith to lost souls about His coming? So many of our students are thankful for the Outside Ministry program at Faith. This is where they get to communicate their faith. They get to minister in churches - preaching, singing, teaching children. They also witness on the streets, go to nursing homes, and do other practical ministries.  We are thankful for the churches that participate in our Outside Ministry and our two Crusades (ten days of ministry each time) each year.  Blessings, (Dr.) Jeffrey A. Spring Convention by President Dr. Jeffrey A. Bell

Dear Friend,

I was due to fly to Ghana, Africa, on January 3. My flight was canceled three times due to inclement weather. The last time I got as far as Brooklyn, New York, where I had to stay for two days until I could get a flight back to Bangor. My luggage did go to Ghana, and has now been lost. However, God has a plan, and I look for His goodness in all of this. We have 31 students enrolled in Ghana and 69 on the Charleston campus. We praise God for all those students that we are MENTORING FOR MINISTRY.  We will hold our Spring Semester Convention on January 30 and 31. At that time we will welcome all of our new students. Revs. Lindsey and Bonnie Burt (in ministry for 32 years) of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, will be the speakers. Merry Christmas by President Dr. Jeffrey A. Bell

Dear Friend, It looks a lot like Christmas at Faith. The Christmas tree in the student lounge has been up for a couple of weeks. Beside the tree is a beautiful manger scene. Christmas carols have been sung in our chapel services. A Christmas banquet was held on Saturday evening, December 13. Students and staff will leave for Christmas break on December 20th. O Come All Ye Faithful Joyful and triumphant, O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem. Come and behold Him, Born the King of Angels; O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord. (Unknown, O Come All Ye Faithful) We wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a Happy and Blessed 2014.  We will be away during the Christmas break. This e-mail will resume in January 2014.

Emerald Anniversary Coming Soon by President Dr. Jeffrey A. Bell

Dear Friends,

We have nearly completed another semester at Faith. Students will leave for Christmas break on December 20th. Another semester will begin on January 9th. In May, we will celebrate Faith's Emerald Anniversary - 55 years. Mark your calendar. Plans are being made for a great celebration to take place May 8 - 10, 2014. We will hold what appears to be our largest graduation ever. Several alumni will be returning to receive their degrees, as well as our senior class graduating. We would love to have you come celebrate with us. Continue to watch this publication for more details.

New Alumni President

Dear Friends,

We are happy to announce that the Board of Directors have selected Rev. Morgan Topolski as the new Alumni President. Rev. Topolski is a 2004 graduate of Faith. He has been at Faith since his graduation and has served in several capacities - Christian school monitor, front desk receptionist, mentor, school buyer, and campus supervisor. Morgan is married to Alexis (Kemic) (05M), and they have three children - Gideon, Silas, and Gabriella. Rev. Topolski has a great interest in seeing the school go forward.
